Its name is thought to be derived from a Chumash Indian word meaning "moon', but some residents feel an earlier interpretation of the word meaning "the nest" is more suitable to describe Ojai. There is something for everyone in Ojai. The city lies within Los Padres National Forest, and those who want to be close to nature will find many beautiful parks and campgrounds, trails to explore.
