Elena, also known as Lili, is a Romanian ex-scientist turned interior designer with an immense love for food and travel! She has visited more than 40 countries and has some fascinating stories to share. When she travels one of her favorite things is to sample the most unusual local foods she can find (from snails and frog legs in France to snake in Vietnam or crocodile tails and green ants in Australia!). Apart from science, interior design, food, cooking and travel, she loves photography and musical theater, and even performs with the local Rush Musical Society. Elena's mother is a great cook and Elena hopes to have inherited some of her mother's cooking skills! She lives in a modern home on the shore of the Irish Sea in Skerries, a former fishing village. Her home has beautiful sea views - sunsets are particularly stunning! She lives with her partner Patrick and their eight-year-old daughter, Nadia, who will join the experience on days they are available. Elena will serve you a healthy Irish-fusion meal that combines her Romanian heritage and international inspiration with local Irish recipes. Elena also offers and optional cooking lesson and an optional market tour. Please note the local organic market is only open on Saturdays; on other days, Elena is happy to take travelers for a tour of her favorite shops in the local town in lieu of a market tour. Also please note it is a 35 minute trip to get to Elena’s home in Skerries from Dublin city center. The name of the three train stations in central Dublin are Tara Street, Connolly Street and Pearse Street, and you can choose any to get to Elena’s home in Skerries, depending on where your hotel is.

Dublin
Dublin enjoys one of the loveliest natural settings in Europe. Dublin attracts visitors from around the world with its old world charm and friendly atmosphere. Most of the architecture dates from the 18th century, when Dublin enjoyed great prominence and prosperity. Also of interest are stately Georgian houses which front Merrion Square. O'Connell Street is considered the commercial center of Dublin. Perhaps the most memorable feature of Dublin is the traditional pub, where visitors can enjoy conversation over fine Irish brew. The city also offers many fine parks, including St. Stephen's Green and Phoenix Park. National Gallery's renowned collection includes works by such famous masters as Rembrandt and Monet. Trinity College's Old Library is home to the most cherished treasure, the Book of Kells, a manuscript of the Gospels. Admire Christ Church Cathedral and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Enjoy the exhibits in impressive National Museum. Self-guided walking tours include Old City Trail, Georgian Heritage Trail and the Cultural Trail.
