Delightful and Colorful Vegan Cuisine with an Expert Cook in Her Home - Day Trip

Ciara is a true artist with food and is able to create delicious vegan treats that make you forget there is no meat in the meal. Ciara’s love for cooking started as a four-year old helping her mother make meatballs and curries in the kitchen. She has been cooking ever since! As a teenager, she catered parties and later studied hotel management and cooked professionally, running kitchens in Sydney. A vegetarian herself, she was disheartened when cooking tons of meat professionally and decided to become a vegan. She wanted to cook the things she enjoyed cooking and eating and started offering 100% vegan cooking classes. Ciara likes to encourage people to eat a more plant-based diet by cooking delicious vegan foods that she sells in local Irish markets. She recently released her own vegan cookbook! She is passionate about bringing people happiness through food by introducing them to delightful flavor combinations, combinations she has perfected in a variety of kitchens from Sydney to London to Limerick. Meet Ciara at her beautifully designed urban townhouse in Limerick. Sip on a refreshing drink and nibbles as your host shares stories about life in Ireland and around the world as a professional in hotel management. Join Ciara at her kitchen as she puts the finishing touches on your meal before you sit down at the dining table (or outdoors in her garden, weather permitting) to share an incredibly flavorful vegan meal together. You will enjoy seasonal, Mediterranean and internationally influenced creative cuisine. Your 3-course meal may include dishes such as a smoked carrot pate served on black cabbage with a dill dressing, an aubergine and wild mushroom pie topped with sweet potato and crunchy radishes, and a dessert of chocolate and coconut cake or chocolate mint mousse. Tea or coffee upon request. If you book a cooking experience, join Ciara in her charming Greek-style kitchen to learn to cook a global vegan meal from recipes she has created on her own that have been influenced by her travels. Your cooking demonstration will last about two hours. During this time you will watch Ciara prepare three dishes from scratch, while chatting, eating and helping Ciara prepare a few of the ingredients for the meal. Please note this is not a hands-on cooking class, but a cooking demonstration in which you will have the chance to watch an expert cook and learn the tips and techniques involved in putting together a vegan meal before you sit down at the table to share the meal together. Ciara also offers an optional market tour add-on, offered on Saturdays only, of Limerick's local Milk Market.

Limerick

Limerick City is magnificently sited on one of Europe's finest rivers, the River Shannon. One can only imagine the 9th century scenes, when fleets of Viking vessels sailed up the river to plunder and terrorise the monastic midlands. In later centuries these Norsemen settled and founded the trading port of Limerick.

To-day Limerick is a proud, progressive and thriving City with a charter older than that of London. Its castles, ancient walls and museums are testament to its dramatic past. Particularly worth viewing is Limerick's Emblem 'the Treaty Stone" and King John's Castle in its Heritage precinct as well as the magnificent Hunt Museum in Limerick's Custom House. This museum houses an internationally important collection of some 2,000 original works including pieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Renoir and Picasso.

Limerick City is the Capital of the Shannon Region and is an excellent centre for shopping. It is also rapidly building a reputation for dining and the City has its own 'Good Food Circle' of restaurants. The City is also considered to be the sporting capital of Ireland with excellent facilities and passionate followers of all sporting activities. Limerick is an excellent holiday base, is just 30 minutes from Shannon Airport, and less than 20 minutes from attractions such as world-famous Bunratty Castle and Folk Park.
