The Ecuadorian Amazon is a fragile jungle that contains some of the planet's most bio-diverse ecosystems. It is is also home to thousands of indigenous peoples who have lived there for more than 10,000 years. Its 2% share of the Amazon is known as the Oriente, including Cuyabeno Wildlife Preserve, Huaorani Protectorate, Upper Napo and Yasuni National Park. Cotopaxi is located in Ecuador's Andes Mountains, and is known as the "Avenues of the Volcanoes." Visit Cotopaxi National Park and enjoy views of Cotapaxi Volcano, as well as the native flora and fauna near Lake Limpiopungo. The local Andean people honor this mountain as sacred, and Cotopaxi holds significant cultural value.
