The other Old Path to Williamstown is more rugged and goes through Cheshire within view of Fort Massachusetts. Cheshire, where President Jefferson's huge Cheshire cheese was created, is among the mountains. Berkshire's first Baptist church stood on Stafford's Hill (with glorious views). Charms belie prosaic Pork Lane. The town's fine statue of McKinley is a memory of his visit. Famous Old Notch road leads to North Adams.
