Sichuan

Sichuan meaning “Four circuits of rivers and gorges” is a province in southwestern China. This Tibetan-inhabited area is carved with beautiful landscapes of hills, plateaus, and sacred mountains. Highlighting its landscapes are its natural resources of rivers, lakes, hot springs, waterfalls and limestone caves. Advanced prehistoric civilizations first appeared in Sichuan over 25,000 years ago however more than 2 million years ago, human activity has been verified. It is the birthplace of many powerful dynasties that molded the country’s culture and traditions. Present day Sichuan has a small prefecture, however much of its natural beauty and old-world traditions are still preserved. Tibetan culture thrives, Buddha sculptures are often visited, and the giant pandas that live among the rainforest are protected by the government.
