Datong
Datong is known for its natural beauty and many historic relics. Datong is known as the “City of Pagodas,” with one over 900 years old. The most popular spot in the city is the Yungang Grottoes, one of the largest grotto-groups in China with 51,000 statues remaining. Construction of these grottoes took over 50 years, with over 40 thousand people that helped. Mt. Hengshan, one of the Five Sacred Mountains in China, is located nearby Datong, and offers breathtaking views.
