Puyuhuapi

Puyuhuapi Hot Springs area is one of the most lovely, important thermal areas in Chile. It is surrounded by a spectacular landscape of native forests and enormous ferns. The name Puyuhuapi means "place of puyes"; the puye is a species of fish greatly sought after by fishing enthusiasts. The inlet waters originate from the underground springs of Melimeyu Volcano. To get to Puyuhuapi, visitors must travel along a significant stretch of Austral Road, passing breathtaking landscapes and enchanting places. The hyperthermic waters reach temperatures of up to 185°F, and the temperature of the water used in treatments and therapies is 117°F. Because of its characteristics and acidity, the waters are recommended for relief of rheumatism, aching joints, and skin conditions. Puyuhuapi Hot Springs offers a range of activities, from traditional thermal baths for peace and relaxation to excursions to Queulat National Park and its spectacular hanging glacier, kayak trips through channels and nearby islands, fly fishing, photography tours, and flora and fauna observation.
