Benghazi

Benghazi is one of the oldest cities in the Mediterranean and one of the most attractive in Libya. Her history reaches back to the ancient Greeks who first named the city ‘Barneek’ after a Greek queen. Over the next centuries, the city changed hands numerous times and now has Arab, Turkish, and Italian influence after being rebuilt since World War II. Among the many national and historical monuments that can be toured in the city are several bazaars and marketplaces not to be missed.
