Oslo, Norway’s capital and largest city, is encircled by wooded hills and snowcapped peaks. The city displays a mixture of several architectural styles. A full range of activities includes art galleries, museums, restaurants, theaters and nightclubs. Other points of interest include Royal Palace; Frogner Park, known for its famous Vigeland sculptures; Holmenkollen, where international skiing events take place; imposing Åkershus Castle; and Bygdøy Peninsula, home to some of Oslo’s most important museums. This 39 mile fjord is the deepest in northern Norway. It stretches from Korsnes almost all the way to the border of Sweden. Take a ferry through the fjord to admire the scenery, including the sparsely populated Hulløya Island which lies in the middle of the body of water.
One of the most popular sights in the Lofotens, this extremely narrow 1.25 mile long Norwegian fjord opens to a picturesque view of the Lofoten Islands landscape. Navigating though the Trollfjord can be very intense depending on the size of your vessel and some larger coastal steamers scrape their sides on the rock walls during passage. Visitors can enjoy a ferry ride through the fjord to visit Trollfjord Island, where they can learn about the 19th century “Battle of Trollfjord” between small-vessel fishermen and larger commercial steamship operators.

Seydisfjördur is long and narrow and flanked by high mountains. At its head lies the town of Seydifjordur, which has one of the best natural harbors in the country. The oldest part of the town is built in 19th century Norwegian-style architecture, making Seydisfjördur a unique Icelandic fishing towns. Seydisfjördur is close to the Faroe Islands and Europe. A Faeroese passenger and car ferry has operated scheduled weekly sailings between Seyðisfjörður and Scandinavia during the summer, and this has attracted considerable tourism to the area. The cultural life is very lively during summer. The Á Seyði Art festival is a yearly event. The Blue Church has concerts every Wednesday in summer. Art exhibitions are at the cultural center, and there is a Crafts Market. There is a swimming pool, a golf course, mini golf and the Rarik electricity museum. Also offered are guided sightseeing tours, cruises, sea angling tours, and trips to Lodmundarfjördur fjord. There are a variety of marked hiking trails in the area, and fishing licenses are available.

The town of Isafjord is a bona fide hive of industry. This busy fishing port runs to sizable shipyards as well as shrimp and fish factories— all ready to handle the catch of the day from the icy waters of the Denmark Strait. Recreational activities around here include hiking, kayaking, and of course, fishing.
Flatey Island is located in the Breidafjordur on the west coast of Iceland. Here you will find an abundance of birds - Arctic terns, red-throated divers, and black guillemots. Watch the seas for the minke, humpback, and orca whales that frequent these waters.
